Program Overview

The goal of the Religion major for Students is critically read and evaluate major religious texts and traditions, distinguish and interrelate philosophical and theological inquiries and methods and develop the ability to identify and to understand alternative points of view between religious traditions, as well as to understand the debates internal to particular traditions. Students achieve this goal by analyzing a critical approach to religious texts and traditions, emphasizing literary, historical, philosophical, theological, and moral inquiries. Finally Students study the bible, early Christian thought, medieval Christian and Jewish thought, studies in Catholicism, Protestantism and Judaism, ethics and society, churchstate relations and philosophy and religion
