The Dual-Degree Program in Law is an exciting opportunity for students interested in earning a law degree at the University of Miami. Through this program, students with high academic ability gain admission to both undergraduate and graduate study in the School of Law. Such an achievement guarantees admission to the School of Law, pending students meet all program requirements - and gives qualified students the chance to complete both bachelor's and juris doctor degrees in just six years.
Admission is provisional to the program at the time of admission to UM undergraduate study. During the applicant's third year, a standard application form is then submitted to the School of Law.The applicant must be in the top 5 percent of his/her graduating class and have a minimum SAT score of 1400 (combined Math and Critical Reading scores).The applicant must take the LSAT and submit a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.5. US universities use a holistic admissions review. Beyond grades and standardized test scores, they weigh the strength of your overall profile to understand who you are as a student and a person.
Profile Assessment: Undergraduate applicants interested in law may choose Pre-Law, Political Science, Economics, History, Philosophy, International Relations or another field. Debate, Model United Nations, mock trials, student government, journalism, advocacy, research and community service may demonstrate critical thinking and communication.Advanced Placement(AP) Guidance: AP availability depends on the student's school.
