BS Biochemistry

Biochemistry is where life science and chemical science combine. This blend of study focuses on the chemical processes which take place in living organisms, and are critical to our understanding of diseases, genetics, nutrition and more.This degree will prepare you for admission to competitive graduate and professional programs in science, medicine, dentistry, and more.You'll learn from and work closely with our Chemistry and Biochemistry faculty who are active scientists and who will be mentors to you as you find your career path and apply for graduate programs or jobs.You'll have opportunities to participate in research projects, attend conferences, publish in academic journals, and gain hands-on experience through internships.You will learn what happens below the surface of humans, plants, animals and other organisms. You will explore how food becomes energy, what causes and what cures diseases, the ways that chemistry controls your emotions and moods, and more.You will learn to research, collect and analyze data, communicate complex ideas, and present findings -- all critical skills for successful careers, inside or outside the lab setting.
