Lycoming College

Program Overview

In the ever-changing field of biology, Lycoming College provides a cutting-edge curriculum that actively engages students in studying the diversity of life, while giving them the analytical skills to answer tomorrow's questions. From the moment they step into their first biology class, students benefit from experience with advanced instrumentation in labs for cell and tissue culture, molecular biology, advanced microscopy, and analysis of water quality and stream health. Freshmen are invited to become involved in our active research labs so they can develop their skills over all four years. Our teaching and research facility houses an aquarium room, greenhouse, cadaver lab, and animal lab. The biology program's innovative coursework, framed within a liberal arts curriculum, prepares our students for a variety of professions in the fields of research, education, healthcare, neuroscience, biotechnology, and the environment. At Lycoming, our biology majors thrive on the wide array of opportunities provided to them through internships and co-curricular professional experiences, collaborative student-faculty research, and exposure to first-rate biological instrumentation.
