Biology is the study of all living things—from molecules to entire ecosystems. And when you study all those things, you can do almost anything. Our alumni work in healthcare, research, laboratory diagnostics and education, as well as in environmental protection and sustainability, or wildlife and nature conservation.
In our biology program, you'll have an amazing experience. For one, you'll be taught by our world-renowned faculty and scientists in state-of-the-art laboratories. You can even do fieldwork at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab on Alabama's Gulf Coast or at facilities in Virginia’s East Coast, the Bahamas, Costa Rica, the Galápagos Islands, or Antarctica. Once you've completed your program track—Integrated Biology, Marine Science, or Molecular Biology—you'll have the prerequisites you need for medical, dental, optometry, veterinary, or pharmacy school. You can even earn your master’s degree through our Accelerated Bachelor's to Master’s program and get certified to teach Biology or General Science through the UABTeach program.
