Program Overview

The molecular and cellular biology program at the University of Maine is designed to provide students with a broad background in the biological and physical sciences and an opportunity for in depth concentration in one of the most active disciplines in the biological sciences. Molecular and cellular biology is the study of organisms at the molecular level with regards to the organization, transmission and expression of genetic information, in addition to the general study of macromolecular systems involved in the structure of DNA and molecular genetics including gene cloning, sequencing, and mapping.
