Offered by both the Department of Chemistry and the Department of Physics and Astronomy, the chemical physics major is intended for those students who desire a more theoretical physics-oriented education. While the majority of course requirements are in chemistry, physics, and mathematics, courses in related fields such as astrophysics, biology, chemical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, geology, mechanical engineering, philosophy, and psychology, may also be counted toward the major. Profile Assessment: Science applicants are generally assessed on the rigour of their Mathematics and laboratory-science coursework. Relevant preparation may include Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Calculus or Statistics, depending on the intended field. Research, science fairs, Olympiads, laboratory exposure, independent investigation and environmental or community-science projects can demonstrate scientific curiosity and analytical thinking.Advanced Placement(AP) Guidance: AP availability depends on the student's school.
