The Skirball Department of Hebrew and Judaic Studies provides an integrated program in Hebrew language and literature as well as a full range of offerings in Jewish history, philosophy, and the arts. The department draws together the vast resources of New York University in this growing field. Courses are taught by a diverse faculty whose fields include biblical studies, post-biblical and Talmudic literature, modern Hebrew literature, history of the Jews in the medieval and modern periods, Jewish philosophy, Jewish mysticism, as well as the history, politics, society, and culture of the modern State of Israel.
