The Global, Cultural and Language Studies major takes an interdisciplinary approach to understanding the cultural, economic and political aspects of our interconnected world. Prepare to think critically about fundamental issues concerning communities both local and global, encouraging you to put your passion for social justice in action.Explore concepts necessary for navigating the world today: power dynamics, identity, globalization, development, environment, public policy, diplomacy and more. Immerse yourself in the cultures you are studying through experiential learning opportunities at home and abroad.Interweave language with the cultures and societies who speak them by completing at least two years of required study in one of the following languages: American Sign Language, German, Ojibwe or Spanish.The Department of Global, Cultural and Language Studies welcomes all students into an inclusive and academically rigorous learning community. Program graduates will be well-prepared for careers in many diverse fields, including healthcare, law, human rights, community organizations, political groups, human services, public policy or private business.
