Program Overview

The Department of Agricultural and Resources Economics undergraduate program provides education and coursework to prepare students to think analytically and apply decision-making skills to problems of production and distribution of food products and the management of natural resources and the environment. The program is highly flexible and caters to individualized interests while the curriculum allows students to develop multiple skills and interests from the major areas of study and concentrations offered. Concentration in International Development provides students with better knowledge and understanding of the global forces shaping change in agriculture and natural resources, and how they can be part of those changes at a policy-making level. Issues of study include national and international food and agricultural analysis, the economic and policy aspects of natural resource use and environmental quality issues, the economics of local, regional and global energy issues and international trade. This training prepares students for careers in national and international governmental policy-making, positions in domestic or developing country institutions, and managerial and planning positions.
