Program Overview

Human factors engineering (or engineering psychology) is an interdisciplinary program offered jointly by the mechanical engineering and psychology departments for students in either the School of Arts and Sciences or School of Engineering. Engineering psychologists apply knowledge of human behavior to the design of products, equipment, machines, and large-scale systems for human use. Human factors engineers apply principles of psychology and engineering to design medical devices, evaluate software interfaces, or set product safety standards.
