Program Overview

The Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology is a comprehensive program structured to give students a background in Sociological analysis and applied skills in social research methods with program content focused on social inequality social change.  In addition to preparing the student for possible graduate education, the general goal of the program is to provide students with basic applied sociological skills necessary to assume a variety of professional positions and positively contribute to society at large.  Penn West's BA Sociology degree prepares students to work in a variety of professional settings including local, regional, and federal agencies, nonprofit organizations, and for-profit enterprises.  The training graduates receive allows them to assume a variety of occupations, as well as positively contribute to societal change. The Sociology program offers concentrations in Social Deviance and Human Services.
