Immaculata University

Program Overview

Immaculata's B.A. in Sociology helps you develop critical thinking skills, an ethical framework, an awareness of society's needs, and a deeper commitment to social justice. As a result, you will be well prepared to work with minority groups and to enter a career in law and advocacy, management, business, international relations, urban planning, state government, or policy. Sociology examines how human beings interact and how organizations behave. You will examine how issues of diversity, social values and social change affect the ways in which society, social institutions and organizations are structured and shaped by culture. Classes explore sociological theories, group behavior, social institutions, culture, major dilemmas in American social policy, medical sociology, sociology of the family, deviance and social control, and sociological research.
