The Department of Art and Design at JSU provides a comprehensive professional education in the study and practice of studio art, graphic design, photography, and art history. Our courses are designed to increase the student’s understanding of the visual arts, and to aid in the development of the student’s creative abilities. We prepare our graduates to enter the workforce with a set of professional skills and a body of work that will make them marketable in their chosen disciplines. Majors in Studio Art may take courses in the following disciplines: ceramics, drawing, illustration, sculpture, book arts, graphic design, motion graphics, web design, painting, multimedia arts, photography, and printmaking.
