Program Overview

The BFA metals program offers a wide range of traditional and nontraditional approaches to:attention to detailcreativitycritical thinkingemphasizing craft skillsmetalworking. A well-equipped studio with a wide variety of metal-smithing tools is offered. Students explore the close relationship with the School of Art's sculpture and foundry programs, learn important entrepreneurial skills, and receive a strong foundation in technical vocabulary and methods for working with metal while being encouraged to experiment with alternative materials and techniques.
