BFA Drawing

4 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

University of New Haven

Program Overview

Nearly every painting, sculpture, or illustration starts as a drawing. Because of that, drawing is often viewed as a tool for thought a stepping stone toward a final work. But at Lyme, this discipline is not just a means to an end, but also an art form itself. The drawing major, which focuses strongly on figure, while exploring the narrative process through which drawings convey meaning, enables students to develop their intellectual and artistic faculties through work in a variety of drawing-based artistic forms. Majoring in drawing is meant to contribute significantly to an expansion in students capacity for learning in ways in keeping with the broader goals of undergraduate education in art.
