University of WolverhamptonArt and Design is an exciting secondary school curriculum subject and incorporates a wide range of design disciplines including art, textiles, ceramics and photography. As a trainee you will learn how to teach Art and Design to pupils in the 11-16 age range within the secondary age phase, with additional primary and post-16 enhancements. You will learn how to develop skills, knowledge and understanding for teaching art and design through a combination of university-led and school-led training.Our Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in Secondary Education provides a high standard of training for those preparing to take up a teaching post in the secondary school sector. The course complies with the statutory guidance from the Department for Education for initial teacher training courses.
You will need an enthusiasm for Art and Design and be committed to developing the range, breadth and variety of art, craft and design education in schools. You will be an enthusiastic artist/designer/craftsperson, with a desire to pass on your enthusiasm to learners of all abilities. Also you will need: To hold a first degree of a United Kingdom higher education institution or equivalent qualification. A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and Occupational Health Check, Interview, IELTS 6.5 (min 6.0 in all components)
