Program Overview

Drama is an exciting secondary school subject which enables young people to develop artistic skills for performance, as well as explore the world in which they live. It is a powerful force to develop critical thinking and agency, and provokes reflection on the human condition in a globalised world.Subject-specific sessions will develop your knowledge and understanding of Drama in education as a discrete discipline and pedagogy.  You will learn how to collaborate with others creatively and imaginatively and develop your subject knowledge in a range of key texts and practitioners through theory and practice.  As a trainee you will learn how to teach Drama to pupils in the 11–16 age range within the secondary age phase, with additional primary and post-16 enhancements.Our Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in Secondary Education provides a high standard of training for those preparing to take up a teaching post in the secondary school sector.  The course complies with the statutory guidance from the Department for Education for Initial Teacher Training courses.
