Canterbury Christ Church UniversityThrough our PGCE we will help you build on this passion for teaching children in early years and primary education. You will prepare to teach all subjects across the curriculum, and study primary mathematics in depth. On successfully completing your PGCE, as well as pursuing your teaching career and moving into completing your Early Career Teacher induction, there is also potential for you to engage in further study for a full Masters and on to a Doctorate in Education.This course is designed to support you in gaining a PGCE Primary with Mathematics Specialism and achieving the standards to be a Qualified Teacher. It also provides you with an opportunity to gain 60 Masters level credits.The course will focus on learning and teaching across the primary phase of education as well as with a focus on primary mathematics.
A good honours degree (2:2 or above), GCSE maths at Grade B or Grade 6, GCSE English language and GCSE science at Grade C or Grade 5 or above (or equivalent). It is desirable but not essential that you also have an A Level in mathematics or a related subject at Grade C or above, and/or significant related, education-based work experience. Two professional references, Occupational Health Clearance and a satisfactory Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check. IELTS score of 6.0 overall with no element below 5.5.
