The Faculty of Education has a longstanding national reputation for providing high-calibre initial teacher training. We are committed to providing high quality university and school-led training. We have a well established partnership with over 800 secondary schools and colleges in the region and offer a wide range of secondary subject disciplines. The PGCE Chemistry has an outstanding reputation for producing high quality science teachers. Science teaching is a stated government priority nationally and therefore attractive bursaries are available to support your training (subject to confirmation of PGCE place and funding eligibility).
You will normally have a minimum of a 2:2 undergraduate honours degree awarded by a UK university, or an equivalent higher education qualification. Your degree needs to support the subject knowledge requirements of the national curriculum for chemistry. GCSEs at grade C/4 or above in English Language and Mathematics, Experience in educational settings, Interview and personal Statement. A Disclosure and Barring Service Check and DfE Fitness to Teach test are also required. IELTS Band 7 with no less than 6.0 in any element.
