TESOL (Certificate)

6 Months On Campus Certificate Program

Brigham Young University Idaho

Program Overview

A group of courses designed to prepare students to Teach English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). Students will understand fundamental principles of second language acquisition. They will also learn language teaching approaches and methods and practice teaching the four skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) as well as grammar and vocabulary. Other topics covered include linguistics, classroom management, curriculum design, and culture. The TESOL Certificate qualifies students to teach the English language in most international contexts and for private domestic organizations. By itself, the TESOL Certificate does not qualify one to teach full-time in US public schools.
