Program Overview

The Paramedic is a health care professional that cares for those injured or suddenly taken ill in the pre-hospital emergency setting. Through this program you'll be qualified and prepared to save lives in many emergency situations because you'll be ready to take on entry-level paramedic positions in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains.The program prepares you to practice in the field through hands-on learning and lectures by instructors who've come face to face with these situations. Program completion allows you to become eligible for the National Registry of EMT's Paramedic certification exam.

Additional Information & Requirements

Students must be accepted into the program prior to registration. RWU does not accept advanced placement for its Paramedic program. At the beginning of each course, the student will be given a syllabus listing the specific requirements for the course. All requirements must be met to complete the course. Grading will be based on the degree of acheivement. In addition to specific course objectives, students must meet core performance standards and demonstrate professional conduct in accordance with program regulations at all times while enrolled in the Paramedic program. If at any time the faculty's evaluation of a student's ability to meet core performance standards on professionalism is identified as below average, the student will be removed from the Paramedic program, regardless of academic performance.
