Bachelor of Arts with the degree of Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Language and Professional Communication

4 Years On Campus Dual-bachelors Program

Macquarie University

Program Overview

Professional communication has traditionally been taught within the broad context of business communication. However, there has been a growing awareness of the need to develop strong professional communication skills within health, community and social service providers. These fields need to finely tune strategies for communicating not only within the workplace but also with an increasingly diverse range of multicultural and multilingual clients. This major will provide you with a working knowledge of various social, cultural and practical aspects of language use for developing and maintaining communication strategies in a variety of professional situations. This major can also be combined with other majors and would be particularly relevant as a second major alongside Community Services or Public Health: Policy and Promotion. You can study this as a qualifying major in the Bachelor of Human Sciences.
