Program Overview

This is a new double major degree hosted by the Division of Mathematical Sciences of the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS) and the Division of Economics of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS). Students will learn how mathematics is applied to model economic decisions, make economic forecasts; in general, how mathematics is a powerful tool for modelling economic and financial market activities. The training that graduates of this degree acquire - a combination of critical economic analysis and strong mathematical and computational skills - is highly valued by employers in the financial services industry, business as well as the public sector. The degree is also ideal for those who plan to pursue a Master's degree in financial engineering, professional or graduate programmes in finance, economics, actuarial science or other related fields.

General Paper of the Singapore Cambridge GCE 'A' Level Examination, 12 years of general education or will be taking High School national examinations in the year of application in order to be considered for admission, IELTS: a minimum of 6 for the Writing sub-test, TOEFL: a minimum of 570 (paper) or 90 (internet), SAT1: a minimum of 600 for the Verbal section; or 7 for the Essay section, Mathematics at Senior High School Level/IB Higher Level AND A good grade in General Paper/English at Senior High School Level / IB Standard Level
