The Foundation Year in Health and Exercise Science course is specifically tailored for individuals who have an interest in pursuing a career in Health and Exercise Science but may not be fully prepared for a complete degree program. This course is suitable for those who have not met the entry requirements for a degree program or individuals who are unsure about which educational path to choose.
The primary focus of this course is to enhance your academic, practical, and teamwork skills, enabling you to transition smoothly into a full undergraduate program. You will engage in studying a set of modules offered by the Institute of Sport, Nursing, and Allied Health. These modules are designed to introduce you to university-level study and provide you with a comprehensive understanding of health and exercise science.
To be eligible for this program, you need to meet the following criteria: UCAS: Obtain a minimum of 48 tariff points, and there is an option to consider your prior experiential or recognized learning. A Levels: Achieve a grade of DD. T Levels: Attain a Pass in Health. BTEC Extended Diploma: Earn a grade of PPP, and there is an option to recognize your prior experiential or recognized learning. GCSE: Obtain a Grade 4/C in English Language, Mathematics, and a Science (or a higher qualification). Functional Skills English and Maths Level 2 Pass are accepted as equivalent. IELTS: Achieve an overall score of Grade 6.0, with no component scoring lower than 5.5. However, if you plan to progress to allied health programs, you will need an overall score of 7.0, with no element lower than 6.5.
