FdA/BTh in Theology, Mission and Practice

2 Years On Campus Foundation-program Program

University of Roehampton

Program Overview

In the initial year of the program, the focus is on establishing a solid base by delving into the study of the Bible, Christian Theology, and church history. Emphasizing practical application, students will acquire the necessary tools, knowledge, and skills to effectively analyze the Scriptures and convey their meaning to others. Additionally, they will learn to contextualize their own beliefs and practices within the broader historical context of the Church's two millennia.

During the second year, the curriculum further integrates Christian practice into the study of scripture, theology, and mission. Through engaging in two professional placements of varying lengths, students will have the opportunity to enhance their skills and comprehension within real-life settings. Under the guidance of experienced mentors, they will develop a deeper understanding of effective, reflective, and ethically sound leadership. Additionally, the second year entails an exploration of mission, worship, and various other significant topics and inquiries.

Upon completion of two years, students may choose to graduate with an FdA (Foundation degree) or continue their studies for an additional year to obtain a BTh Theology, Mission, and Practice (Bachelor of Theology degree). In the final year, students will refine their abilities as pastoral workers, writers, researchers, and theologians. Modules will delve into subjects such as world Christianity, pastoral care, Christian education, and the practical application of Christian doctrine. The culmination of the program is the Final Year Project, allowing students to conduct an in-depth investigation into a topic of personal passion while drawing upon their accumulated knowledge and skills.
