Program Overview

There is an increasing demand for health and social care both in the UK and globally. This rapidly-growing industry requires individuals with a wide range of knowledge and experience. This course offers an opportunity to gain an overall understanding of the sector, as professionals need to be flexible and open to new ways of delivering high standards of care. This course covers a range of diverse subjects which include substance misuse, offender management, working with gangs and the management of long-term conditions. You will also have the opportunity to study how to promote healthy living and emotional intelligence in practice. This course is delivered by expert staff with vocational experience in a variety of health and social care settings. There will be opportunities to increase your employability through completion of specialised work placements in a wide range of settings.

Additional Information & Requirements

An overall average of at least 65% in 12th Standard from both State and Central Examination Boards, IELTS overall score of 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in each component. A-levels: An A-level grade profile of CD-DD. T-levels: A T-level graded Pass with a core component profile less than C. BTEC: A BTEC grade profile of PPP-PP. This can be achieved from either an Extended Diploma or a combination of smaller BTEC qualifications. Tariff: Other Level 3 qualifications are accepted. A minimum of 56-32 UCAS Tariff points will be required for entry. Access to Higher Education Diploma: 56-32 UCAS Tariff points. Non-tariff: Non-UCAS Tariff-based Level 3 qualifications are also considered for entry. Work-based: You must have a minimum of 3 years’ relevant work experience, demonstrating management or supervisory duties. Your application must also include a reference from your line manager supporting your entry to higher education. For further details, please contact Admissions GCSE/IGCSE English grade A*-C or grade 9-4 or equivalent. You must also complete a Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS). University College Birmingham will co-ordinate and fund the completion of the DBS check.
