During the initial foundation year, you will acquire the necessary academic skills to thrive at the degree level. Additionally, you will receive a comprehensive introduction to important aspects of psychology, offering a broad understanding of the subject.

In your second year, you will delve into the fundamental principles of psychology, exploring the scientific underpinnings of our everyday experiences. This stage of your studies will focus on learning essential research methods and skills that will be utilized throughout your degree.

Moving into the third year, your knowledge of psychology will be expanded across all areas of the field. Furthermore, you will enhance your expertise in designing experiments, analyzing research data, and critically evaluating psychological studies.

 

 

UCAS Entry Requirements:

For admission, the following criteria apply:

A Levels (or a combination with AS / EPQ / BTEC / Cambridge Technical): A minimum of 48 tariff points is required.

GCSEs: Grades C/4 or higher are needed in English language, mathematics, and a science subject.

IELTS: An overall score of 6.0 is required, with no individual element lower than 5.5.

 

 

The BSc (Hons) Psychology with Integrated Foundation Year degree is approved by the BPS (British Psychological Society) and meets the requirements for Graduate Basis for Registration (GBR). This accreditation serves as a recognized foundation for progressing towards specialized areas of psychology and ultimately pursuing a career as a Chartered Psychologist.

The BPS currently encompasses 10 professional divisions, including Clinical Psychology, Educational Psychology, and Sport and Exercise Psychology. Each of these pathways involves a dedicated professional training program, which begins with achieving GBR status.

Apart from laying the groundwork for a career as a professional psychologist, a psychology degree offers valuable insights into human behavior. These insights equip graduates with versatile skills applicable to a wide range of fields beyond psychology.
