Sociology, and this course, investigates social life and the way it shapes people's behaviour, beliefs and identity. Its subject matter ranges from an examination of the face-to-face interactions of daily life, to large-scale social institutions, social movements and global processes. By understanding the social world, we gain a better understanding of ourselves and our own social situations.

Sociologists consider the social nature of our lives and scrutinize the relationships of people and groups with each other. The degree course asks the big questions such as: how society is organized, what is the purpose of those arrangements and who is winning We will consider what makes our society in Wales and Europe different from other societies around the world We will also track changes in society. To help us make solutions we will present the leading theories so that you can criticize and bring your own results.
