LLB Law and Business Studies

4 Years On Campus Joint-bachelors Program

University of Warwick

Program Overview

The University of Warwick is a globally respected institution, consistently ranked among the top UK universities for its academic excellence, innovative research, and vibrant student community. Within this dynamic environment, Warwick offers a unique opportunity to study a joint degree in Law and Business—an interdisciplinary programme designed to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of both the legal system and the modern business world.

Delivered collaboratively by Warwick Law School, one of the UK’s most prestigious law faculties, and Warwick Business School (WBS), known internationally for its cutting-edge business education, this degree offers a strong foundation in both disciplines. Students explore key legal principles alongside core business concepts, with particular focus on areas where law and business intersect—such as corporate structure, financial regulation, and market governance.

The programme is structured to develop not only subject-specific knowledge but also critical transferable skills, including communication, legal writing, research, and presentation abilities. In the first three years, students undertake essential modules such as Tort Law, Contract Law, the Modern English Legal System, and Foundations, Skills and Debates, alongside business-focused modules like the jointly taught International Business Environment.

Flexibility is a key strength of the course. Students can choose between a three-year pathway or a four-year qualifying law degree, with the final decision made in the spring term of the second year. This allows time to reflect on academic interests and career goals, making it an ideal choice for students seeking broad expertise and career versatility.

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

  • Warwick Law in the Community (LinC)
LinC offers students the opportunity to engage in pro bono legal work, public legal education, and community outreach. Through initiatives like the Public Legal Education (PLE) module, students collaborate with community organizations to design and deliver workshops, educational materials, and resources that address specific legal needs. This hands-on experience allows students to apply their legal knowledge in real-world settings and make a meaningful impact on the community.

  • Warwick Internship Programme (WIP)
The WIP provides students with the chance to gain valuable work experience through 6-week placements during the summer vacation. This program allows students to apply their skills in a professional environment and enhances their employability.

  • Research Projects and Joint Modules
The degree includes modules co-taught by faculty from both the Law and Business Schools, such as "Law and the International Business Environment." These modules provide students with opportunities to engage in research projects that explore the intersection of law and business.

  • Study Abroad Opportunities
The four-year structure of the program allows students to spend a year abroad, studying the language and aspects of the legal system of another European country. This experience broadens students' perspectives and enhances their understanding of international legal and business practices.

Progression & Future Opportunities

  • Postgraduate Study: Graduates often continue their studies with an LLM in areas such as corporate law, commercial law, tax law, or international business law. Many pursue further qualifications like an MBA to complement their legal expertise or a PhD in Law for academic or research careers.

  • Graduates are highly sought after in corporate law, working in major law firms such as Clifford Chance, Allen & Overy, or Freshfields, often advising on mergers, acquisitions, and financial regulations.

  • Strong foundation for roles in business management, in-house counsel, and corporate governance, particularly in banking, finance, or technology sectors.

  • Many alumni transition into consulting, applying both legal and business acumen in firms like McKinsey or BCG, or work in corporate strategy roles.

  • Graduates also excel in financial services, focusing on compliance, risk management, insurance law, or investment banking.

  • Some enter the public sector, working in policy development, regulatory bodies, or international organisations such as the UN or EU.

  • The combination of legal and business training makes graduates well-suited for entrepreneurship, including starting their own ventures or working in venture capital and private equity.
