3 Years On Campus Joint-bachelors Program

Aberystwyth University

Program Overview

This BA gives you the perfect mix of exploring the rich Welsh language, culture, and literature, while also diving into the world of international politics. It’s ideal for curious students who want to understand global issues through the lens of Welsh language and heritage.

Curriculum Structure

Year 1: Laying the Foundations

In your first year, you’ll get a solid grounding in both Welsh and international politics. You’ll study modules like Cyflwyniad i Wleidyddiaeth Ryngwladol 1: Cysyniadau Canolog a Sgiliau Craidd (Introduction to International Politics 1: Core Concepts and Skills) to understand the basics of global politics, while exploring Welsh language and culture through Cyflwyniad i Llenyddiaeth Gymraeg (Introduction to Welsh Literature). This year is all about building the core skills you’ll use throughout your degree.

Year 2: Digging Deeper

Your second year lets you take things further. In politics, you’ll look at the impact of globalization and development through modules like Globaleiddio a Datblygiad Byd-eang (Globalization and Global Development). Meanwhile, Welsh studies focus on literary depth, such as Llenyddiaeth Gymraeg y 20fed Ganrif (20th Century Welsh Literature). You’ll develop stronger analytical skills and start to see how the two fields connect.

Year 3: Specialisation and Research

In your final year, you’ll have the chance to focus on what interests you most. Politics modules like Gwleidyddiaeth yn yr Unfed Ganrif ar Hugain (Politics in the 21st Century) let you explore contemporary global issues, while in Welsh you can take on independent research projects. This is your opportunity to make your mark academically and prepare for life after university.
