4 Years On Campus Joint-bachelors Program

University of Warwick

Program Overview

If you’re curious about global politics and want to understand China’s role in shaping the world, this degree is made for you. At Warwick, you’ll study politics and international relations while also learning Chinese from scratch or improving your current level — combining language skills with real insight into international affairs.

Curriculum Structure

Year One
Your first year sets the foundation. You’ll dive into big political questions through modules like Introduction to Politics and World Politics, while also beginning your Chinese language journey. Whether you’re a beginner or already have some knowledge, classes are tailored to help you build confidence quickly.

Year Two
In your second year, the focus broadens. You’ll take on subjects such as International Security, Comparative Politics or Political Theory from Hobbes to Marx, alongside continuing your Chinese studies. This year really strengthens your analytical skills and gives you the freedom to shape your own academic interests.

Year Three – Year Abroad in China
This is where the adventure begins. You’ll spend your third year living and studying in China at one of Warwick’s partner universities, such as Shanghai Jiao Tong or the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen). It’s your chance to immerse yourself in the language, experience the culture first-hand, and see politics through a truly global lens.

Year Four
Back at Warwick for your final year, you’ll take advanced modules and possibly complete a dissertation on a topic you’re passionate about. Whether it’s International Political Economy, Democracy and Development, or Chinese Politics, you’ll graduate with strong academic knowledge, fluent Chinese, and valuable international experience.
