Program Overview

This industry-relevant postgraduate qualification is for students who have already completed a three-year bachelor degree and would like to increase their employment prospects with a teaching qualification specialising in primary education. The curriculum is practical in nature and is solely focused on the education of children from Reception to Year Seven. Practical learning is a major component and you will complete 60 days of professional experience placements, starting in the first year of study. The Primary specialisation is taught at the Magill campus only. You will also be invited to participate in a range of internships working at schools associated with the Gifted and Talented Program, National Exceptional Teaching for Disadvantaged Schools (NETDS), and Celebrating Cultural Diversity. There will be the opportunity for you to work with vulnerable students who are affected by trauma, abuse and neglect as part of the Smart Schools program.

Additional Information & Requirements

A three-year Bachelor degree or equivalent from a recognised higher education institution with a minimum GPA of 4.0, noting that entry is competitive and based on academic merit, one year of full-time equivalent study, as part of their Bachelor degree or equivalent, relevant to one or more learning areas of the primary school curriculum (Arts, English, Health and Physical Education, Humanities and Social Sciences, Languages, Mathematics, Science, Technologies), which includes a minimum half a year of equivalent study relevant to one of the learning areas of the primary school curriculum, 400-word Education Statement, DCSI clearance, Mandatory child-safe environments training, First aid training, Literacy and Numeracy Test, IELTS 7.0 in each componenet, India (best 4) at 70, TOEFL iBT of 94 with Reading and Writing not less than 18, CAE/CPE of 186, PTE of 65, CELUSA AE6, a 400-word Education Statement
