Program Overview

The Master of Engineering (Renewable Energy) at UNSW Sydney is a two-year postgraduate program for students who want to develop specialised skills in renewable energy and prepare for careers in the growing clean-energy sector. Students explore renewable energy technologies, energy efficiency, systems engineering and energy assessment while developing practical skills to tackle real-world engineering challenges.

Curriculum Structure

Year 1: Students build a strong foundation in Renewable Energy Engineering through Disciplinary Knowledge courses and begin Advanced Disciplinary Knowledge courses based on their interests and career goals. They explore areas such as renewable energy technologies, energy efficiency, systems engineering and renewable energy assessment.

Year 2: Students continue with advanced and specialised courses while studying Engineering and Technical Management to develop skills in leadership, strategy and project management. They also complete a Design course, Research Project and 60 days of Engineering Professional Practice, giving them the opportunity to apply their knowledge to practical engineering challenges.
