Program Overview

The Master of Engineering at CQUniversity (CQU) is a 2-year full-time postgraduate degree designed to develop advanced engineering knowledge, professional skills, practical experience, and industry-ready capabilities.

Curriculum Structure:

In the first year, students complete Australian Engineering Practice along with discipline-specific studies in their chosen major: Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering. Students develop advanced technical knowledge, engineering analysis skills, and professional capabilities.

In the second year, students who meet the required academic standard continue with their chosen accredited major, completing an individual engineering research project, professional development, and a 12-week industry internship. Students who do not meet the progression requirement transfer to the Professional Major and complete a team project with relevant electives.

Focus Areas: Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Design, Engineering Analysis, Modelling and Simulation, Project Management, Professional Practice, and Sustainable Engineering.

Learning Outcomes: Apply advanced engineering knowledge, solve complex engineering problems using modelling and simulation, develop innovative engineering solutions, work effectively in teams, communicate professionally, and demonstrate leadership and ethical engineering practice.

Professional Alignment (Accreditation): The Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical majors are fully accredited by Engineers Australia, with graduates recognised as professional engineers in Australia and eligible for Graduate membership with Engineers Australia.
