Applied linguistics is primarily concerned with how knowledge about language is applied to real-world issues. Key focus areas include the role of language in communication, the acquisition of first and subsequent languages, cross-cultural communication and language teaching. This internationally relevant course will develop your analytic skills and your understanding of the complex relationship between language use and context. You'll have the opportunity to study with one of the largest and most diverse linguistics departments in Australia, which is home to four research centres.
Australian level 7 bachelor's qualification or recognised equivalent in linguistics, applied linguistics, language studies, translation/interpreting, international studies, media, cultural studies, sociology, journalism, education, psychology, or a related discipline, GPA of 4.50 (out of 7.00), IELTS of 6.5 overall with minimum 6.0 in each band, or equivalent, senior secondary studies equivalent to the NSW HSC, one year of Australian or comparable tertiary study in a country of qualification, IB of 18, Bachelor degree which has been accredited by the professional accounting bodies in Australia, OWA of 55-66%, Completion of WASSC/SSC with B grade average in 5 relevant academic subjects
