Translators and interpreters are proficient bilinguals with a love of language. Linguists with skills in TESOL have a deep understanding of the complex relationship between language use, particularly in diverse cultural contexts. This course will develop your existing linguistic skills, provide you with a strong theoretical and practical foundation in the fields of both TESOL and translation and interpreting. This course is suited to language professionals working in either language teaching, curriculum development and evaluation, policy development or in commercial and community services that require cross-cultural mediation by translators and interpreters.
Australian level 7 bachelor's qualification or recognised equivalent in a language or communication related field including translation studies, translating and interpreting, linguistics, speech and hearing sciences, speech-language pathology, language or literary studies, comparative literature, creative writing, education, journalism, media or communication studies, law, or a related discipline, GPA of 4.50 (out of 7.00), Proficiency in one of the available languages, IELTS of 7.0 overall with minimum 6.5 in each band, or equivalent, senior secondary studies equivalent to the NSW HSC, one year of Australian or comparable tertiary study in a country of qualification, IB of 18, Bachelor degree which has been accredited by the professional accounting bodies in Australia, OWA of 55-66%, Completion of WASSC/SSC with B grade average in 5 relevant academic subjects
