Translators and interpreters are proficient bilinguals with a love of language. Those with a background in international relations have a deep understanding of the forces that not only influence relations, but also communications, between the major players in the international system. Specialists with skills in both international relations and translating and interpreting are highly valued across the globe. This course will provide you with the skills and knowledge you'll need to perform as a competent professional translator and interpreter in a range of institutional settings common to community and commercial translating and interpreting practice in Australia and overseas, while also equipping you with the skills to mediate internationally in a variety of settings.

Additional Information & Requirements

Australian level 7 bachelor's qualification or recognised equivalent in a language or communication related field including translation studies, translating and interpreting, linguistics, speech and hearing sciences, speech-language pathology, language or literary studies, comparative literature, creative writing, education, journalism, media or communication studies, law, or a related discipline, GPA of 4.50 (out of 7.00), Proficiency in one of the available languages, IELTS of 7.0 overall with minimum 6.5 in each band, or equivalent, senior secondary studies equivalent to the NSW HSC, one year of Australian or comparable tertiary study in a country of qualification, IB of 18, Bachelor degree which has been accredited by the professional accounting bodies in Australia, OWA of 55-66%, Completion of WASSC/SSC with B grade average in 5 relevant academic subjects
