Program Overview

The Master of Clinical Psychology at CQUniversity is a 2-year full-time postgraduate professional program designed to develop advanced clinical psychology knowledge and practice skills. The program follows a scientist-practitioner approach, integrating coursework, supervised clinical practice and research training.

Curriculum Structure:

Year 1: Covers psychopathology, psychological assessment, clinical interventions and clinical practice. Students complete two supervised placements at the university's Wellness Centre, working with adult and child therapy and assessment referrals.

Year 2: Develops advanced clinical assessment and intervention skills alongside research methods, thesis work, health psychology and rehabilitation. Students complete two external clinical placements in public, private, community and other mental health settings.

Focus Areas: Clinical psychology, psychopathology, psychological assessment, clinical intervention, health psychology, rehabilitation, research and culturally responsive practice.

Learning Outcomes: Graduates will be able to conduct culturally responsive assessment, formulate and diagnose psychological disorders, apply evidence-based interventions, evaluate research and practise ethically across diverse populations.

Professional Alignment (Accreditation): The program is accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) as a packaged fifth and sixth year postgraduate program and prepares graduates to apply for the Registrar Program for endorsement in Clinical Psychology.

Reputation (Employability): The program provides four supervised clinical placements across university-based and external settings, preparing graduates for practice in mental health, hospitals, community health, education, private practice and other clinical environments.
