The Master of Clinical Psychology at the University of Canberra is a 2-year full-time postgraduate professional program designed to provide advanced training in clinical psychology. It combines advanced coursework, supervised clinical placements and a research project, preparing students for professional practice as clinical psychologists.
Curriculum Structure:
Year 1: Covers Introduction to Assessment and Intervention, Professional Psychological Practice, Adult Psychopathology, Assessment and Treatment, Child and Adolescent Psychopathology, Assessment and Treatment, Psychological Assessment Across the Lifespan, and supervised practicum placements. Students also begin their postgraduate psychology research project.
Year 2: Focuses on Advanced Assessment and Intervention, Health Psychology for Clinicians, further supervised practicum placements and completion of the Postgraduate Psychology Research Project, developing advanced clinical and research skills.

Learning Outcomes: Graduates will develop advanced knowledge of psychopathology across the lifespan, apply psychological assessment and intervention skills, conduct clinical research, use the scientist-practitioner and evidence-based practice models, and practise ethically and in culturally responsive ways.
Professional Alignment (Accreditation): The course is an accredited postgraduate training program covering Levels 3 and 4 graduate competencies set by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC). Completion provides eligibility for general registration as a psychologist and entry into the registrar program for the Clinical Psychology Area of Practice Endorsement through AHPRA.
Reputation (Employability): The program includes four supervised practical placements totalling 1,000 hours, including placements in the University’s student-led Health Clinic and other clinical and professional settings, preparing graduates for clinical psychology practice across health, community, government, education, welfare, defence and justice services.
