Ghent University is the only university in Belgium where one can follow a full African Studies programme including a Bachelor and a Master. It therefore is a unique programme. It is also unique, because it approaches the African continent from different angles and because students learn how to tackle global issues with an open and critical mindset. Students are stimulated to better frame intercultural differences and to acquire a deeper understanding of non-western and diverse ways of thinking and living.
Holders of an appropriate Belgian academic bachelor degree, Holders of a foreign university bachelor degree or higher education bachelor diploma: bachelor of minimum 3 years, In some cases applicants cannot be admitted directly to a master programme, but have to do a specific preparatory or linking course (between 45 and 90 ECTS credits) first, depending on their previous studies, Certificate ITNA B2, B2-certificate from a university language centre, Certificate STRT 'Educatief Startbekwaam' under Dutch as a Foreign Language, Passing the entrance examination medicine-dentistry study programmes
