Program Overview

The objectives of the Master of Geography study programme are: to help students acquire a due knowledge of the advanced theoretical and methodological foundations of geography; to teach students to set up and perform research in the area of geography at academic level in a self-reliant manner and to report and communicate thereon in a variety of ways; to take students to an advanced level of knowledge and competences particular to scientific work in geography, i.e. teaching students to define, analyse and solve spatially-related problems in a duly self-reliant manner;

Additional Information & Requirements

Holders of an appropriate Belgian academic bachelor degree, Holders of a foreign university bachelor degree or higher education bachelor diploma: bachelor of minimum 3 years, In some cases applicants cannot be admitted directly to a master programme, but have to do a specific preparatory or linking course (between 45 and 90 ECTS credits) first, depending on their previous studies, English Language Requirement:TOEFL-TEST with a score of 510-559 (paper-based), or 72-94 (internet-based) or higher, IELTS with a minimum overall band score of 6.0, B2-certificate ITACE for students (Interuniversity test of academic English), awarded by the Ghent University Language Centre, B2-certificate from a university language centre, Final test certificate from the course Practical English 5 or English for Written Academic Purposes awarded by the UCT, Certificate B2 First, Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) with a score of 59-75
