Program Overview

The course program is known as a combined study program, indicating that both language and culture with a significant historical component are part of the courses on offer. The term combined refers to the fact that different disciplines and methodologies coincide, an innate multiperspectivism of Course program: language and culture/context are fundamentally connected, both in our teaching and in our research. This interconnection of Oriental language and culture is the main cornerstone of Program: an intensive language program contextualized in the cultural environment social, philosophical, religious, historical, and literary. This contextualization is achieved not only in the courses taught, but also in the increasing possibilities for semesters abroad in the different areas, emphasizing the prominence of internationalization in Program.

Additional Information & Requirements

Holders of an appropriate Belgian academic bachelor degree, Holders of a foreign university bachelor degree or higher education bachelor diploma: bachelor of minimum 3 years, In some cases applicants cannot be admitted directly to a master programme, but have to do a specific preparatory or linking course (between 45 and 90 ECTS credits) first, depending on their previous studies, English Language Requirement:TOEFL-TEST with a score of 510-559 (paper-based), or 72-94 (internet-based) or higher, IELTS with a minimum overall band score of 6.0, B2-certificate ITACE for students (Interuniversity test of academic English), awarded by the Ghent University Language Centre, B2-certificate from a university language centre, Final test certificate from the course Practical English 5 or English for Written Academic Purposes awarded by the UCT, Certificate B2 First, Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) with a score of 59-75
