Program Overview

The MSc in Biology from the Universit de Sherbrooke offers four specialized research pathways in the fields of molecular and cellular biology, terrestrial ecology and microbiology-biotechnology, as well as bioinformatics.In molecular and cellular biology , research activities are mainly oriented towards understanding the mechanisms involved in the regulation of gene expression, cell differentiation, apoptosis and defense responses in animals and plants, as well as the use of bioinformatics methods and tools for integrating genomic data.In microbiology , research groups are studying economically important saprophytic microorganisms, actinomycetes, as well as pathogens of human and veterinary importance, and agri-food. Research projects involve biochemistry, ecology and microbial diversity, phytopathology, physiology, plant-microorganism interactions, molecular biology, genetic engineering and biotechnology.

16 years of schooling in a suitable field of study, Bachelor Degree or equivalent, Letters of recommendation, Letter of interest, Resume, Official transcripts,TOEFL: minimum 100 (iBT) with a minimum of 20 on each section, IELTS: at least 7 (general scores) with a minimum of 6.5 on each section, TOEIC: have obtained a minimum of 850, Successful completion of the Written French Test (TFE) or Uniform Test of French, Language of Instruction (EUL) at the college level approved by the Quebec Ministry responsible for Graduate Studies
