The Energy Institute was developed on the basis of the Energy Institute. The Energy Research Institute was established in September 2007. It is guided by the major needs of national energy technology and economic development on the west coast of the Taiwan Strait. Through integration, introduction, and improvement, it has built a first-class new energy that integrates personnel training, technology research and development, and technology transfer in China base.

The Sabendong Institute of Micronano-Science and Technology, formerly known as the Sabandong Micro-Electro-Mechanical Research Center, was jointly established by Xiamen University, Sabendong Education Research Foundation and Xiamen Municipal Government. It was officially launched in Siming campus in September 2002. Operation, passed the acceptance in 2003 to become the Xiamen Engineering Center, and in 2006 was approved to prepare for the establishment of Fujian Province University Microelectronics Key Laboratory.
