It is one of the earliest departments of Xiamen University. Well-known scholars Zhou Bianming, Lin Yutang, Hong Chen and other well-known Chinese and Western professors have taught in the department. Famous poet Yu Guangzhong, Thai overseas leader Cai Yueshi, Chen Hanzhou, and financial industry elite Zhu Dezhen and Li Xiaojia have studied here.At present, the College has English Language and Literature Department, Foreign Language Teaching Department, Japanese Language and Literature Department, European Language and Literature Department, and French Language and Literature Department.
