Program Overview

The aim of the study is to develop and deepen the knowledge and skills that the student acquired as part of a bachelor's degree in Spanish language and literature or another related field. It cultivates his critical thinking, cultural outlook and introduces him to the directions of study that Spanish philology is currently taking. In linguistics, students will focus on the historical development of the Spanish language and on the varieties of Spanish in a broader socio-historical and socio-cultural sense. In literary criticism, they will gain a deeper insight into the methodology of literary science and an awareness of the wider context of Spanish and Hispano-American literature. It is assumed that the student has a good knowledge of the Spanish and Latin American literary canon.
