Program Overview

Studying the auxiliary sciences of history prepares you to work with various types of historical sources . The aim of the study is to deepen the knowledge of individual auxiliary science disciplines with an emphasis on interpretation and methodology . You will use the acquired theoretical knowledge in the practical processing of historical sources, especially in the form of their critical editions. You will learn the principles of interpretation procedures (e.g. dating and provenance determination of sources, detection of forgeries, etc.) and textual criticism that can be used in general when working with texts and outside the fields of historical sciences .
