Program Overview

The two-year study of the master's field of Religious Studies at the Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University develops knowledge about the religious traditions of the world and deepens insight into the theory, methodology and history of religious studies in broad interdisciplinary contexts. Optionally, the source language is part of the study. In individual courses, emphasis is placed on written and oral presentation, qualified work with sources and data sources, and understanding of the main theoretical paradigms of contemporary religious studies and related fields. Students deepen their understanding of the phenomena of human culture, develop creative thinking and an interdisciplinary approach and, within the chosen specialization, specify their focus and clarify their direction towards research, teaching or the application of religious studies in the media, non-profit organizations or other sectors.
