Masters in Botany

2 Years On Campus Masters Program

University of South Bohemia Ceske Budejovice

Program Overview

The Botany study program provides education in the systematics and ecology of organisms traditionally studied in botany, i.e. from cyanobacteria and algae, through fungi and lichens to bryophytes and vascular plants. Furthermore, it emphasizes the understanding of the diversity of communities of these organisms and the study of its causes and changes over time and relationships with other components of ecosystems. Within the framework of diploma theses, general issues are studied, focused mainly on intra-population and inter-population variability and interactions of populations and species in evolutionary contexts and time-space variability and dynamics of plant communities on different temporal and spatial scales. Part of the topics is also focused on the practical protection of the studied organisms and nature, including the restoration of disturbed, degraded or completely destroyed ecosystems.
